History of Saltburn

Dating back to the mid 1800's, there are numerous topics of interest on the history of Saltburn, for example, the railway, the buildings, the people (Henry Pease), wartime to name but a few.

Tony Lynn has written a new book, called "10 miles of Golden Sands", which is a nostalgic look at the north east beaches. You can pick up a free copy from the Tourist Information Office in the station buildings.

This old photograph shows a stationary engine, somewhere on Station Street, with the railway station in the background, taken presumably during the early stages of the building of Saltburn.
